These Regulations were originally made under section 29 of the Banking Act 1945 and are continued in force under section 39 of the Banking Act 1959: see section 29 of the Banking (Transitional Provisions) Act 1959 and the Banking (Foreign Exchange) Regulations (Amendment) (SR 1960 No. 8).
