These regulations amend the Veterans’ Entitlements Regulations 1986 to increase the amount available for reimbursement for medical evidence provided by an applicant for a review of a decision to the Veterans' Review Board or by an applicant to the Specialist Medical Review Council to $1000.

1  Name

                   This instrument is the Veterans’ Entitlements Amendment (Medical Expenses Reimbursement) Regulations 2017.

2  Commencement

             (1)  Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

1  Regulations 8A and 13A

Omit “$467.50”, substitute “$1000”.

2  After regulation 16

Insert:

17  Application of amendments relating to medical expenses reimbursement

                   The amendments made by the Veterans’ Entitlements Amendment (Medical Expenses Reimbursement) Regulations 2017 apply in relation to an application under section 170A or 196ZN of the Act that is made on or after the commencement of this item.
