Schedule 1 – Amendments


1.1.                                    This instrument is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 105/00 – Blind Spot Information Systems) 2023 Amendment 1.

2.1.                                    This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.

3.1.                                    This instrument is made under section 12 of the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018.

4.1.                                    Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

 

  1.                Clause 6.2, repeal.
  2.                Insert a new clause 6.2 to read:

“6.2. In paragraph 2.12 of Appendix A, omit “test device according to ISO [CD] 19206-4”, substitute “adult bicyclist target in accordance with ISO 19206-4:2020”.”

  1.                Clause 6.4.1, repeal.
  2.                Insert a new clause 6.4.1 to read:

“6.4.1. In place of this paragraph 5.3.2, it must be demonstrated that the BSIS will also perform as specified in Appendix A, for smaller bicycles and smaller bicyclists, differing by up to 36 per cent from the nominal dimensions detailed in ISO 19206-4:2020 for the adult bicyclist target, through:

  1.     physical testing, using a child bicyclist target in accordance with ISO 19206-4:2020; or
  2.     simulation, which is sufficiently validated by physical testing to accurately establish how the BSIS would perform for a child bicyclist target in accordance with ISO 19206-4:2020; or
  3.     another documented means, which is sufficiently valid and accurate to establish how the BSIS would perform for a child bicyclist target in accordance with ISO 19206-4:2020.”
