Schedule 1—Amendments
Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Regulations 1997
This instrument is the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Amendment (Home Affairs Measures No. 1) Regulations 2026.
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Act 1997.
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
1 Part 4 of Schedule 1AB (cell at table item 642, column headed “Objective(s)”)
Omit all the words from and including “To provide funding to” to and including “services of an interpreter.”, substitute:
To provide funding to legal services providers, registered migration agents and providers of interpretation services to provide the following to applicants, or prospective applicants, for Australian visas: (a) assistance before the visa application process, including the following: (i) advice on available visa pathways; (ii) assistance in relation to offers by the Australian Government of a temporary stay in Australia during the visa application process; (iii) the engagement of community representatives or leaders to provide support to prospective applicants, including by disseminating accurate information about visa pathways and the visa application process; (b) assistance in preparing visa applications and participating in the visa application process, including by attending interviews with applicants; (c) assistance in preparing applications for merits review or judicial review of visa application decisions and participating in the merits review or judicial review process, including by attending interviews and tribunal or court proceedings; (d) interpretation services to support the assistance referred to in paragraph (a), (b) or (c); as a measure with respect to aliens (within the meaning of paragraph 51(xix) of the Constitution). |
