  This instrument is the Currency (Australian Coins) Amendment (2025 Royal Australian Mint No. 5) Determination 2025.

 (1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

A design, inspired by the Australian children’s book The Rainbow Serpent (1975) by Indigenous author and artist Dick Roughsey (an adaptation of the Indigenous Australian mythological deity known as Goorialla, the great Rainbow Serpent), consisting of:

(a) a circular border immediately inside the rim; and

(b) partially obscuring the border, a stylised representation of 2 converging spears, dividing the coin into 3 unevenly divided sections, each enclosing a coloured stylised representation of:

(i) Goorialla rising up on the horizon of a desert landscape; and

(ii) Goorialla, with its body partially coiled and tongue sticking out from its mouth, with trees, partially obscured, in the background; and

(iii) 4 Indigenous Australians standing together on grass, 3 of them each holding a spear, with a tree, the beach, the ocean and the sky in the background; and

(c) partially obscuring the border, the converging spears and each unevenly divided section, a stylised representation of Goorialla, as depicted in The Rainbow Serpent, slithering around a rocky mountain with its mouth open, with rocks falling from each side of the mountain; and

(d) the following:

(i) “50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RAINBOW SERPENT”; and

(ii) Arabic numerals for the amount, in dollars and cents, of the denomination of the coin, followed by “DOLLARS”, “DOLLAR” or “CENTS” as the case requires.

(b) surrounding, and partially obscured by the central circle, a stylised representation of the following:
