Communications (Interpretation) (Consequential Amendments) Instrument 2025
The Australian Communications and Media Authority makes the following instrument under section 33 of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992, section 262 of the Radiocommunications Act 1992, and subsection 450(1) of the Telecommunications Act 1997.

This is the Communications (Interpretation) (Consequential Amendments) Instrument 2025.
This instrument commences at the later of:
(a) the start of the day after the day it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation;
(b) immediately after the commencement of the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2025.

This instrument is made under:
(a) section 33 of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992; and
(b) section 262 of the Radiocommunications Act 1992; and
(c) subsection 450(1) of the Telecommunications Act 1997.
The instruments that are specified are Schedule 1 are amended as set out in the applicable items in that Schedule.

1 Subguideline 6(1)
Insert:
interpretation determination means:
(a) the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2025; or
(b) if a later instrument replaces that determination – the later instrument.

2 Subguideline 6(1) (definition of UHF)
Omit ‘Schedule 1 to the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2015’, substitute ‘the interpretation determination’.
3 Subguideline 6(1) (definition of VHF)
Omit ‘Schedule 1 to the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2015’, substitute ‘the interpretation determination’.
4 Subguideline 22(5) (definition of MF)
Omit ‘Schedule 1 to the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2015’, substitute ‘the interpretation determination’.
5 Subsection 4(3) (including the note)
Repeal the subsection, substitute:
(3) Unless the contrary intention appears, terms used in this instrument that are defined in:
(a) the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2025; or
(b) if a later instrument replaces that determination – the later instrument;
have the same meaning as in that instrument.

6 Subsection 4(1) (definition of area-wide licence)
Repeal the definition, substitute:
area-wide licence has the meaning given by:
(a) the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2025; or
(b) if a later instrument replaces that determination – the later instrument.

7 Section 5 (definition of mobile station)
Repeal the definition, substitute:
mobile station has the meaning given by:
(a) the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2025; or
(b) if a later instrument replaces that determination – the later instrument.

8 Section 5 (definition of station (including the note))
Repeal the definition, substitute:
station has the meaning given by:
(a) the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2025; or
(b) if a later instrument replaces that determination – the later instrument.
