This instrument is the Defence (Individual benefits) Determination (No. 1) 2025.

1. Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903.

 The purpose of this Determination is to provide a member in unique circumstances with reimbursement of relocation costs on ceasing continuous full-time service.

In this Determination, the following apply.

Decision maker means an employee of Toll Transitions who performs the duties of:

  1.        National Relocations Administration Services Manager.
  2.        Regional Relocations Manager.
  3.        Relocation Administration Services Manager.
  4.        Senior Case Manager.

Defence Determination means the Defence Determination 2016/19, Conditions of service, as in force from time to time.

Housing benefit location has the same meaning given by section 1.3.10 of the Defence Determination.

Removal on ceasing continuous full-time service means a removal under Division 6 of
Part 5 of Chapter 6 of the Defence Determination.

This Determination applies to the former member who held the employee identification number 8559861.

  1.               The former member is eligible to be reimbursed the following costs.
    1.          The costs incurred to relocate the possessions of the former member and their family living with them at the time the former member ceased continuous full-time service, from their housing benefit location to a chosen location outside their housing benefit location.
    2.          Any other costs in connection with the relocation to the chosen location that the decision maker is satisfied is reasonable.
  2.               Reimbursement under this section is limited to the lesser of the following.
    1.          The combined total of the costs incurred by the former member to relocate.
    2.          The cost of a removal on ceasing continuous full-time service to the same location.

The former member is eligible for disturbance allowance under Part 1 of Chapter 6 of the Defence Determination at the rate that would have been payable had the former member undertaken a removal on ceasing continuous full-time service to the same location they relocated to.

This Determination is revoked on 31 March 2025.
