AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001 (1) of CASR. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct an unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

GippsAero GA8 Series Aeroplanes

 

Applicability:

All GA8 aircraft as identified in Table 1 of GippsAero Service Bulletin SB-GA8-2024-218 Issue 1, dated 11 July 2024, as in force on the date of commencement of this Airworthiness Directive (AD).

Requirement:

For aircraft that have been modified in accordance with GippsAero Service Bulletin SB-GA8-2011-66 Issue 60, dated 5 June 2023 (or earlier approved issue), accomplish the requirements of GippsAero Service Bulletin SB-GA8-2024-218 Issue 1, dated 11 July 2024, as in force on the date of commencement of this AD.

Compliance:

Unless previously accomplished, within 100 hours flight time or six months, whichever occurs first, from the commencement date of this AD.

 

This AD commences on 31 January 2025.

Background:

A documentation review of Service Bulletin SB-GA8-2011-66 Issue 60 has identified a discrepancy in performance data for the affected aircraft:  Take-off charts may require engine RPM which exceeds the engine limitations provided in Section 2 of the applicable Flight Manual.  Hence, Service Bulletin SB-GA8-2024-218 Issue 1 has been introduced to correct the issue for the affected aircraft.

This AD is issued to give legal effect for the corrective actions given in Service Bulletin SB-GA8-2024-218 Issue 1.
