Radiocommunications (Science and Research) Frequency Band Plans Amendment Instrument (No. 1) 2023
The Australian Communications and Media Authority makes the following instrument under subsection 32(1) of the Radiocommunications Act 1992.

This is the Radiocommunications (Science and Research) Frequency Band Plans Amendment Instrument (No. 1) 2023.
This instrument commences at the start of the day after the day it is registered.

This instrument is made under subsection 32(1) of the Radiocommunications Act 1992.
Each instrument that is specified in Schedule 1 to this instrument is amended as set out in the applicable items in that Schedule.
Schedule 1—Amendments
Radiocommunications 1.5 GHz Frequency Band Plan 2015 (F2015L01271)
1 After section 6
Add:
Despite anything else in this frequency band plan, a frequency band that is part of the 1.5 GHz band may be used for the purpose of operating a radiocommunications device in accordance with:
(a) the Radiocommunications (Science and Research) Class Licence 2023, as in force from time to time; or
(b) if another instrument replaces that class licence – the other instrument, as in force from time to time.
Radiocommunications (Mobile-Satellite Service) (1980–2010 MHz and 2170–2200 MHz) Frequency Band Plan 2022 (F2022L00843)
2 Paragraph 6(1)(c)
Repeal the paragraph, substitute:
(c) subject to section 8 – the operation of a point to point station for a fixed service;
(d) the operation of a radiocommunications device in accordance with:
(i) the Radiocommunications (Science and Research) Class Licence 2023; or
(ii) if another instrument replaces that class licence – the other instrument.
3 Paragraph 6(2)(c)
Repeal the paragraph, substitute:
(c) subject to section 8 – the operation of a point to point station for a fixed service;
(d) the operation of a radiocommunications device in accordance with:
(i) the Radiocommunications (Science and Research) Class Licence 2023; or
(ii) if another instrument replaces that class licence – the other instrument.
Radiocommunications (Television Outside Broadcasting) (2010–2110 MHz and 2200–2300 MHz) Frequency Band Plan 2022 (F2022L00842)
4 Paragraph 7(1)(d)
Omit ‘and’.
5 Paragraph 7(1)(e)
Repeal the paragraph, substitute:
(e) if column 2 of the Table of Frequency Band Allocations in Part 2 of the spectrum plan mentions another service for a part of the frequency band – subject to this instrument, that service in that part of the frequency band;
(f) the operation of a radiocommunications device in accordance with:
(i) the Radiocommunications (Science and Research) Class Licence 2023; or
(ii) if another instrument replaces that class licence – the other instrument.
6 Paragraph 7(2)(d)
Omit ‘and’.
7 Paragraph 7(2)(e)
Repeal the paragraph, substitute:
