Veterans’ Entitlements Regulations 1986

1  Name

  This instrument is the Veterans’ Entitlements Amendment (Travel Expenses) Regulations 2017.

2  Commencement

 (1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

1.  The whole of this instrument

At the same time as Schedule 2 to the Veterans’ Affairs Legislation Amendment (Omnibus) Act 2017 commences.

1  Regulation 9 (heading)

Repeal the heading, substitute:

9  Travelling expenses

2  Subregulation 9(1) (paragraph (c) of the definition of attendant)

Omit “170B or 196ZO”, substitute “170B, 196ZO or 196ZQ”.

3  Subregulation 9(1) (definition of entitled person)

Omit “170B or 196ZO”, substitute “170B, 196ZO or 196ZQ”.

4  Subregulation 9(1) (definition of travel)

Omit “170B or 196ZO”, substitute “170B, 196ZO or 196ZQ”.

5  Subregulation 9(2)

Omit “170B or 196ZO”, substitute “170B, 196ZO or 196ZQ”.

6  Subregulation 9(4A)

Omit “170B or 196ZO”, substitute “170B, 196ZO or 196ZQ”.

7  Subregulation 9(9)

After “132”, insert “or 196ZQ”.

8  Subregulation 9(11) (note)

Omit “170B(3) and 196ZO(3)”, substitute “170B(3), 196ZO(3) and 196ZQ(3)”.

9  Regulation 9AM (heading)

Repeal the heading, substitute:

9AM  Travelling expenses to a single destination for 2 or more purposes

10  Regulation 9AM

Omit “170B or 196ZO” (wherever occurring), substitute “170B, 196ZO or 196ZQ”.

11  Regulation 9AN (heading)

Repeal the heading, substitute:

9AN  Travelling expenses to multiple locations within the same town or city

13  Regulation 13A

Repeal the regulation, substitute:

13A  Prescribed amount for the purposes of subsection 196ZN(2) of the Act

  For the purposes of subsection 196ZN(2) of the Act, the prescribed amount is $1,000.
