Determination 2016/04:
Members of Parliament – Entitlements

(i) Pursuant to subsections 7(1), 7(2) and 7(4) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973 (the Act), the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration and allowances to be paid to members of parliament, and matters significantly related thereto, and determines as set out below.
(ii) Section 7(8AA) of the Act applies to this Determination, so that neither the disallowance provisions in section 7(8) of the Act nor those in section 42 of the Legislation Act 2003 applies to it.
(iii) This Determination commences on 1 July 2016.
PART 1 - ENTITLEMENTS
1.1 In this part, Determination Number 4 of 2012 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.
1.2 Part 3 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing sub clause (a) of clause 3.3 with the following:
(a) by charter transport, provided that where charter transport is used the senator or member must pay for any additional cost as between the charter transport and the estimated reimbursement cost of private vehicle allowance at the rate specified in clause 5.1 for the most reasonable and usual route between the departure and destinations points; or
1.3 Part 5 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing, after sub clause 5.1 (c), the following words “Australian Public Service rates then current” with “the rate of 66 cents per kilometre”.
1.4 Part 5 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing, in clause 5.2, the following words: “Australian Public Service rates then current” with “the rate of 66 cents per kilometre”.
