I, NICOLA ROXON, the Minister for Health and Ageing, make this instrument under subsection 23DZZIAA(1) of the Health Insurance Act 1973.

1 Name of instrument

  This instrument is the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation – Approved Accreditors) Instrument 2010.

2 Purpose of instrument

  The purpose of this instrument is to approve persons to accredit diagnostic imaging practices in accordance with the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation) Instrument 2010. 

3 Commencement

 This instrument commences on the earlier of:

 (a)   immediately after the commencement of Schedule 1 to the Health Insurance Amendment (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation) Act 2010; and

  (b)  the start of the day on 1 July 2010.

4 Interpretation

  In this instrument:

Act means the Health Insurance Act 1973.

diagnostic imaging practice means diagnostic imaging premises or a base for mobile diagnostic imaging equipment.

Note 1 Unless a contrary intention appears, an expression used in this instrument has the same meaning as in the Actsee section 13 of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003.

Note 2 Terms defined in subsection 3(1) of the Act and which are used in this instrument include base for mobile diagnostic imaging equipment, diagnostic imaging accreditation scheme and diagnostic imaging premises.

6 Approval of persons to accredit diagnostic imaging practices

  For the purposes of paragraph 23DZZIAA(1)(b) of the Act the persons approved to accredit diagnostic imaging practices under the diagnostic imaging accreditation scheme established by the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation) Instrument 2010 are:

  (a) Health and Disability Auditing Australia Pty Ltd (ACN 134 482 625);

  (b) National Association of Testing Authorities Australia (ACN 004 379 748); and

  (c) Quality in Practice Pty Ltd (ACN 094 965 590).
