Amendment to Guidelines made under subclause 99(1) of Schedule 1A of the Higher
Education Support Act 2003

 

 

 

I, Julia Gillard, Minister for Education, pursuant to subclause 99(1) of the Higher Education Support Act 2003, make the attached amendment to the VET FEE-HELP Guidelines.

VET FEE-HELP Guidelines

 

 

Amendment No. 2

 

 

 

 

(i) CITATION

 

These guidelines may be cited as Amendment No. 2 to the VET FEE-HELP Guidelines.

 

 (ii) AUTHORITY

 

These guidelines are made under subclause 99(1) of Schedule 1A of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

 

 (iii) DATE OF EFFECT

 

These guidelines come into effect on the day after the day on which they are registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

 

(iv) AMENDMENT

These Guidelines amend the VET FEE-HELP Guidelines registered on 30 June 2009 (see F2009L02594) and which commenced on 1 July 2009.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PURPOSE

 

 

 

 

Item 1 – new Chapter 4

After Chapter 3, insert:

 

CHAPTER 4 VET FEE-HELP DEBT

4.1 PURPOSE

 

4.1.1 Under paragraph 137-18(2)(b) of the Act, this chapter specifies:

 

a) a lesser percentage of a loan made under paragraph 137-18(1)(a) of the Act in discharge of a person’s liability to pay his or her VET tuition fee for a VET unit of study; and

 

b) the class of persons for whom the lesser percentage is specified.

 

4.5 THE LESSER PERCENTAGE

 

4.5.1 The lesser percentage is 100%.

 

4.10 CLASS OF PERSONS FOR WHOM THE LESSER PERCENTAGE IS SPECIFIED

 

4.10.1    The lesser percentage is specified for any student who is entitled to VET FEE-HELP assistance under subsection 2.10.15 of these Guidelines.
