1 Name of Regulations
These Regulations are the Trade Practices (Consumer Product Safety Standard) (Bicycle Helmets) Amendment Regulations 2009 (No. 1).
2 Commencement
These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.
3 Amendment of Trade Practices (Consumer Product Safety Standard) (Bicycle Helmets) Regulations 2001
Schedule 1 amends the Trade Practices (Consumer Product Safety Standard) (Bicycle Helmets) Regulations 2001.

(regulation 3)
[1] Paragraph 5 (2) (a)

(a) protective helmets of a size too small to be reasonably fitted to:
(i) Headform AA defined in Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2512.1:1998, published by the Standards Association of Australia on 5 September 1998; or
(ii) Headform AA defined in Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2512.1:2009, published by Standards Australia on 7 April 2009;

6 Standard until 12 December 2010
Until the end of 12 December 2010, each of the following is a standard for protective helmets for pedal cyclists:
(a) the standard described in Part 1 of Schedule 1 (AS/NZS 2063:1996) as varied by Part 2 of that Schedule;
(b) the standard described in Part 3 of Schedule 1 (AS/NZS 2063:2008) as varied by Part 4 of that Schedule;
(c) the standard described in Part 1 of Schedule 2 (Snell Standards), subject to Part 2 of that Schedule.
7 Standard from 13 December 2010
On and after 13 December 2010, the standard for protective helmets for pedal cyclists is the standard described in Part 3 of Schedule 1 (AS/NZS 2063:2008) as varied by Part 4 of that Schedule.

5.3.3 Internal projections
The helmet should have no internal projections or irregularities likely to cause injury to the wearer in case of an accident.

5.6 BMX Helmets Helmets designed and constructed principally for use by cyclists engaged in BMX competition racing need not comply with provisions regarding ventilation openings or type testing.
