AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/CESSNA 188/16 Amdt 1.

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 28 August 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian AD, initially issued in 1970, required inspection of the lower longeron for cracks in the vicinity of the main landing gear supports.  The AD compliance was within 100 hours time in service after 1 September 1971 and then at 500 hour intervals.  A search of the SDR data base indicated only one incident of longeron cracking since 1980.  As routine inspection during normal maintenance should adequately cover inspection of these areas, this AD is no longer required.
