I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor‑General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the International Transfer of Prisoners Act 1997.

1 Name of Regulations
These Regulations are the International Transfer of Prisoners (Transfer of Sentenced Persons Convention) Amendment Regulations 2008 (No. 1).
2 Commencement
These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.
3 Amendment of International Transfer of Prisoners (Transfer of Sentenced Persons Convention) Regulations 2002
Schedule 1 amends the International Transfer of Prisoners (Transfer of Sentenced Persons Convention) Regulations 2002.

4 Transfer countries
For the definition of transfer country in subsection 4 (1) of the Act, a foreign country for which the Convention is in force is a transfer country.
Note 1 For when the Convention enters into force for a State, see Articles 18 and 19 of the Convention in Schedule 1.
