AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

Applicability:

Embraer ERJ-170( ) aircraft.

Requirement:

Replace clamps P/N PE270019RF4E and PE270019RF8E which attach the hydraulic tubes inside the wing fuel tanks, with new clamps P/N PE27019FS4E and PE27019FS8E respectively in accordance with Embraer Service Bulletin No.
170-29-0006 original issue, or further revisions approved by the ANAC.

Compliance:

Within the next 12,000 flight hours after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished.

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 July 2007.

Background:

Hydraulic system tube clamps located inside the wing fuel tanks have been found damaged.  Further analysis has shown that damage to multiple clamps may become an ignition source within the fuel tanks.  This AD requires the replacement of certain clamps to prevent the unsafe condition from developing.
