AMENDMENT OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL PLAN

AMENDMENT NO 9

November 1993


PREAMBLE

The National Capital Plan was approved by the Minister for the Arts, Tourism and Territories on 21 December 1990.

One of the statutory functions of the National Capital Planning Authority is to keep the National Capital Plan under constant review and to propose amendments to it when necessary. Amendment No 9 is a response to this process.

The Amendment, which changes the land uses for Section 10 Barton, will enable the Hotel Kurrajong to be converted for use as an international hotel management school, including hotel accommodation.

AMENDMENT OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL PLAN

AMENDMENT NO 9

Amend Figure 8 in Part 1 of the National Capital Plan to:

(a) change the land use for the whole of Section 10 Barton from “Hotel, Open Space and Child Care Centre” to “Hotel and Educational Establishment”; and

(b) incorporate the following statement on the reverse of Figure 8:

Section 10 Barton

Objective:

The objective for Section 10 Barton is to enable the Hotel Kurrajong and its setting to be used as an Hotel and Hotel School without detriment to its heritage values.

Conditions of Planning, Design and Development:

 The land use policy for Section 10 Barton is “Hotel and Educational Establishment.”

 Block 3 Section 10 Barton is to be retained and maintained as public open space by the lessee, giving special consideration to heritage values.

 Landscape and building development works on Section 10 Barton shall give special consideration to the heritage values of the Hotel Kurrajong.

 Development must address street frontages.”
