I, KEVIN JAMES ANDREWS, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, make this Notice under subsection 5(15) of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.

1 Name of Notice

  This Notice is the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Definition of ACT Employee) Notice 2005 (1).

2 Commencement

  This Notice commences on registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (FRLI).

3 Declaration

  For subsection 5(15) of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (the Act), I declare that the class of persons mentioned in Column 2 of the Schedule are employees of the Australian Capital Territory, for the purposes of the acts mentioned in Column 3 of the Schedule.

Note    The person is engaged in activities at the request or direction, or for the benefit, of an authority or body established by an ACT enactment.

Persons who, without receiving any remuneration (other than payment of expenses incurred), take part in emergency management activities or training exercises under the control or direction of the Emergency Services Authority or the Chief Officer of an emergency service under the Emergencies Act 2004 (ACT).

Acts performed in connection with the carrying out of emergency management activities or training exercises.
