1 Name of Regulations
These Regulations are the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Amendment Regulations 2005 (No. 1).
2 Commencement
These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.
3 Amendment of Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Regulations 1991
Schedule 1 amends the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Regulations 1991.

4 Employing authorities
(1) For subparagraph (a) (i) of the definition of employing authority in subsection 5 (1) of the Act, a person or body mentioned in column 2 of an item of the following table is the employing authority in relation to the persons mentioned in column 3 of the item:

(2) In this regulation:
contractor means a contractor of the kind referred to in paragraph (a) of the definition of contractor in subsection 5 (1) of the Act.
Note 1 The only kind of contractor in relation to which paragraph (a) of the definition of employing authority in subsection 5 (1) of the Act applies is the kind referred to in paragraph (a) of the definition of contractor in subsection 5 (1) of the Act.
Note 2 Some contractors are sometimes known as ‘consultants’ (see, for example, section 45 of the Productivity Commission Act 1998).
