Exemption  carriage of life rafts

1 Duration

 This instrument:

(a) commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments; and

(b) stops having effect at the end of August 2007.

2 Application

 This instrument applies to Boeing 737 aircraft operated by Virgin Blue Airlines Pty Ltd (ARN 567591) in operations between the aerodromes of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

3 Exemption

 (1)The aircraft are exempt from compliance with the directions under subregulation 252 (1) of CAR 1988 to the extent mentioned in subsection (2).

 (2)The exemption applies only to the requirement to comply with paragraph 5.2.1 of Civil Aviation Order 20.11 in relation to the carriage of life rafts.

4 Condition

 The exemption is subject to the condition that the aircraft must be within the lesser of 120 minutes at normal cruising speed or 400 nautical miles from an adequate aerodrome as defined in Civil Aviation Order 82.0.
