1 Name of Order [see Note 1]

  This Order is the Australian Meat and Livestock Industry (Standards) Order 2005.

2 Commencement

  This Order commences on 1 July 2005.

3 Export of livestock in accordance with standards [see Note 2]

 (1) The holder of a livestock export licence must not export livestock except in accordance with the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (Version 2, September 2006) which were endorsed by the Primary Industries Ministerial Council on 24 August 2006.

4 Obligations under Export Control (Animals) Order 2004 not affected

  Nothing in this Order affects any requirement to comply with the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock that applies to the holder under the Export Control (Animals) Order 2004.

Subsection 3 (1) — Schedule 1 (item 1) of the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry (Standards) Amendment Order 2006 (No. 2) provides as follows:

The proposed amendment was misdescribed and is not incorporated in this compilation.

5 Application of amendment

 (1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), the amendment made by item 1 of Schedule 1 applies in relation to exports of live-stock from Australia on or after 25 September 2006.

 (2) The requirement contained in the Note to subparagraph (c)(i) of Standard S1.9 of the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (Version 2, September 2006) does not apply to cattle and buffalo from the Northern Territory sourced for export as slaughter or feeder animals until 1 January 2007.

 (3)  For the period 25 September 2006 to 31 December 2006, the requirement contained in the Note at the end of Standard S1.9 of the Australian Standards for the Export of Live-stock published by the Department, as in force on 1 July 2005, applies to cattle and buffalo from the Northern Territory sourced for export as slaughter or feeder animals.
