Customs Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Customs Act 1901.

1.   Commencement

1.1   Regulation 4 commences on 1 July 1997.

[NOTE:  The remainder of these Regulations commence on gazettal.  See Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]

2.   Amendment

2.1   The Customs Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

3.   Regulation 19 (Working days and hours of business)

3.1   Subregulation 19 (2):

Insert the following definition:

‘Customs place’ means:

 (a) a place owned or occupied by Customs; or

 (b) a port, airport or wharf that is appointed, and the limits of which are fixed, under section 15 of the Act; or

 (c) a boarding station that is appointed under section 15 of the Act; or

 (d) a place described in a depot licence that is granted under section 77G of the Act; or

 (e) a place described in a licence for warehousing goods that is granted under subsection 79 (1) of the Act; or

 (f) a place that is approved, in writing, by the CEO as a place for the examination of international mail;”.

[NOTE:  The note after subregulation 19 (1) should be omitted.]
