Army and Air Force Canteen Service Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903.

1.   Amendment

1.1   The Army and Air Force Canteen Service Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

[NOTE: These Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]

2.   Regulation 4 (Army and Air Force Canteen Service)

2.1   Add at the end:

 (5) The Board may conduct the operations of the Canteen Service under a name registered under the legislation, relating to business names, of a State or Territory in which the operations of the Canteen Service are being conducted.”.

3.   Regulation 10 (Constitution of Board)

3.1   Paragraph 10 (1) (a):

Omit “Major-General”, substitute “Brigadier”.

3.2   Paragraph 10 (1) (b):

Omit “Air Vice-Marshal”, substitute “Air Commodore”.

4.   Regulation 13 (General powers, duties and functions of the Board)

4.1   Paragraph 13 (j):

Omit “maintain, with the approval of the Minister of State for Finance,”, substitute “maintain”.

4.2   Add at the end:

 (2) Without limiting the generality of paragraph (1) (k), the power of the Board under that paragraph includes the power to enter into contracts for other persons:

 (a) to sell goods and merchandise; or

 (b) to supply and provide services, entertainment and other amenities; or

 (c) to conduct canteens and other facilities.”.
