Anglo-Australian Telescope Agreement
Regulations
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Anglo-Australian Telescope Agreement Act 1970.

Citation
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Anglo-Australian Telescope Agreement Regulations.
Interpretation
2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:
“Council” means the Science and Engineering Research Council, a body established by Royal Charter that is a Research Council for the purposes of the Science and Technology Act 1965 of the United Kingdom;
“Schmidt Telescope” means:
(a) the 1.2 metre Schmidt camera telescope owned by the Council which is situated on land vested in, or under the control of, the Australian National University and located at Siding Spring Mountain in the State of New South Wales; and

(b) the other facilities and equipment owned by the Council and situated on that land that are used for purposes related to the operation of that telescope or the development or examination of photographic plates taken by means of the telescope;
“the Act” means the Anglo-Australian Telescope Agreement Act 1970.
Additional functions of the Board
3. For the purposes of section 8a of the Act, the following additional functions are conferred on the Board:
(a) care and maintenance of the Schmidt Telescope;
(b) operation and management of the Schmidt Telescope;
(c) development of the Schmidt Telescope.
