Air Force Regulations 2 (Amendment)
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923.

1. Amendment
1.1 The Air Force Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.
2. Regulation 88 (Retiring ages for officers)
2.1 Subregulation 88 (1b):
Omit the subregulation, substitute:
“(1b)Subject to subregulation (1c), the age for the compulsory retirement of a chaplain of the Air Force is 55 years.
“(1c)The age for the compulsory retirement of a prescribed chaplain is 65 years.
“(1d)For the purposes of subregulation (1c), a prescribed chaplain is a chaplain in the Air Force Reserve who is:
(i) a chaplain in Division 4 who is the head of his or her denomination; or
(ii) a chaplain in Division 5.”.
2.2 Paragraph 88 (4) (a):
Omit “Australian”.
3. Regulation 88a (Retirement of Principal Air Chaplain)
3.1 Omit the regulation.
4. Savings and transitional provisions
4.1 If a chaplain of the Air Force:
(a) to whom paragraph 88 (1b) (a) of the Air Force Regulations applied; and
(b) who has not attained the age of 55 years;
immediately before the commencement of these Regulations so elects, regulation 88 of the Air Force Regulations continues to apply to the chaplain after the commencement of these Regulations as if these Regulations had not commenced.
4.2 The age for the compulsory retirement of a chaplain of the Air Force:
(a) to whom paragraph 88 (1b) (a) applied; and
(b) who has attained the age of 55 years;
immediately before the commencement of these Regulations is 57 years and subregulation 88 (2) of the Air Force Regulations continues to apply to the chaplain after the commencement of these Regulations as if these Regulations had not commenced.
4.3 If a Principal Air Chaplain:
(a) to whom subregulation 88a (2) of the Air Force Regulations applied; and
(b) who has not attained the age of 55 years;
immediately before the commencement of these Regulations so elects, regulation 88a of the Air Force Regulations continues to apply to the Principal Air Chaplain after the commencement of these Regulations as if these Regulations had not commenced.
4.4 The age for the compulsory retirement of a Principal Air Chaplain:
(a) to whom subregulation 88a (2) applied; and
(b) who has attained the age of 55 years;
immediately before the commencement of these Regulations is 58 years and subregulation 88a (3) of the Air Force Regulations continues to apply to the Principal Air Chaplain after the commencement of these Regulations as if these Regulations had not commenced.
