REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1965.*

2. Regulation 544 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words " Eleven thousand four hundred and eighteen " and inserting in their stead the words " Eleven thousand five hundred and twenty-three ";

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words " Nine thousand seven hundred and fourteen " and inserting in their stead the words " Nine thousand eight hundred and nineteen "; and


(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words " Ten thousand five hundred and sixty-six " and inserting in their stead the words " Ten thousand six hundred and seventy-one ".

Marriage allowance.

7. Regulation 555 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words " Ninety-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and two cents ";

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar and fifty cents " (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and fifty-seven cents ";

(c) by omitting from paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " Ninety-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and two cents ";

(d) by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words " One dollar and fifty cents " (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and fifty-seven cents "; and

(e) by omitting from paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (5.) the words " Ninety-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and two cents ".

Conditions to be complied with before marriage allowance is payable.

8. Regulation 555a of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words " Three dollars and fifteen cents " and inserting in their stead the words " Three dollars and twenty-nine cents ".

Living out allowance for single members.

9. Regulation 567 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words " One dollar and two cents " (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and nine cents "; and

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (b) of that sub-regulation the words " One dollar and sixty-two cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and seventy-two cents ".

Ration allowance.

10. Regulation 569 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words " One dollar and two cents " (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and nine cents "; and


(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (e) of that sub-regulation the words " One dollar and sixty-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and seventy-two cents ".

Rates of travelling allowance.

11. Regulation 578 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar and two cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and nine cents ".

Reduction of rate when subsistence or quarters provided.

12. Regulation 590 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words " One dollar and two cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar and nine cents ".

13.—(1.) Regulations 598, 598a, 598aa and 598ab of the Air Force Regulations are repealed and the following regulation is inserted in their stead:—

Meal allowance.

" 598.—(1.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, meal allowance is payable to a member who incurs expense in the purchase of a meal in such circumstances as the Air Board determines.

" (2.) Meal allowance—

(a) is payable subject to such conditions and at such rate or rates as the Air Board determines; and

(b) is not payable in respect of a meal purchased by a member during a period in respect of which travelling allowance is payable to the member.".

(2.) Where an allowance under regulation 598, 598a, 598aa or 598ab of the Air Force Regulations was paid or is payable to a member in respect of a meal purchased during the period from and including the fourteenth day of February, 1966, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, the member is, by virtue of this sub-regulation, entitled to be paid additional meal allowance in respect of that meal of an amount equal to the amount by which the meal allowance paid or payable to him in respect of that meal is less than the meal allowance that would have been or would be payable to him in respect of that meal if sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation and the first determination made by the Air Board for the purpose of the regulation inserted in the Air Force Regulations by that sub-regulation had come into force on the fourteenth day of February, 1966.

Application.

14.—(1.) The rates of pay and rates of allowances provided for in the Air Force Regulations as amended by regulations 1 to 12 (inclusive) of these Regulations apply in respect of service in the Permanent Air Force, the Air Force Emergency Force or the Citizen Air Force, as the case requires, on and after the twenty-first day of July, 1966.

(2.) Where, but for this sub-regulation, a male member would, by virtue of the application of the amendments of regulation 555 or regulation 555a of the Air Force Regulations as from the twenty-first day of July, 1966, in accordance with sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation, cease to be entitled to marriage allowance or become entitled to marriage allowance at a reduced rate, the member shall not cease to be so entitled to marriage allowance or the rate of marriage allowance shall not be so reduced, as the case may be, until the date of commencement of these Regulations.


(3.) Where an allotment made by a male member was in force in respect of the period from and including the twenty-first day of July, 1966, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, or in respect of a part of that period, at a rate that entitled him to marriage allowance at the rate of Ninety-five cents per day but would not entitle him to marriage allowance at the rate of One dollar and two cents per day under the Air Force Regulations as amended by these Regulations, the member may increase his allotment in respect of the period or the part of the period, as the case may be, and, if he does so, marriage allowance is payable to him in accordance with Air Force Regulations as so amended as if his increased allotment had been in force during the period or the part of the period.
