REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923.

Amendments of the Air Force Regulations. †
Interpretation.
1. In these Regulations, any reference to a regulation shall be read as a reference to a regulation contained in the Air Force Regulations, as amended to the date of commencement of these Regulations.
Branches.
2. Regulation 49 is amended by omitting from paragraph (d) the word “quartermaster” and inserting in its stead the words “commissioned warrant officer”.
Appointment to commissioned warrant officer branch.
3.—(1.) Regulation 54a is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—
“54a. A commission in the commissioned warrant officer branch of the Permanent Air Force with the rank on appointment of flying officer may be granted on the recommendation of, and subject to conditions approved by, the Air Board to a warrant officer or a non-commissioned officer who has passed the examination for promotion to warrant officer.”.
(2.) An officer appointed to be quartermaster and granted a commission in the quartermaster branch under the regulation repealed by this regulation and holding office at the date of commencement of this regulation shall be deemed to have been granted a commission in the commissioned warrant officer branch as if this regulation had been in force when he was so appointed and he had been granted a commission hereunder.

Promotion of flying officers of commissioned warrant officer branch.
4. Regulation 65 is amended by omitting sub-regulation (2.).
5. After regulation 65 the following regulation is inserted:—
Promotion of flying officer of commissioned warrant officer branch as flight lieutenant without examination.
“65a. Notwithstanding anything contained in these Regulations, a flying officer of the commissioned warrant officer branch may, after five years’ continuous service therein, be promoted to the rank of flight lieutenant without being required to pass an examination.”.
Half-pay List.
6. Regulation 79 is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “placed on the unattached list” and inserting in their stead the words “transferred to the Reserve “.
Repeal of regulation 80, 82 and 83.
7. Regulations 80, 82 and 83 are repealed.
Notification of address.
8. Regulation 87 is amended by omitting the words “Unattached or Retired List” and inserting in their stead the wards “Retired List”.
Retiring age.
9. Regulation 88 is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(1.) The ages for compulsory retirement of officers shall be in accordance with the following table:—

When “married” allowance payable.
10. Regulation 534 is amended by inserting after the word “years” the words “, but does not include a member who has been divorced by his wife unless the Minister, on the recommendation of the Air Board, directs that, owing to exceptional circumstances, that member shall be regarded as a married member”.
Active pay Rates.
11. Regulation 547 is amended by omitting sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation: —
“(3.) An officer of the commissioned warrant officer branch shall be paid consolidated pay and allowances in accordance with the following table: -

Deferred pay Rates.
12. Regulation 548 is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “a quartermaster holding an honorary commission” and inserting in their stead the words “an officer of the commissioned warrant officer branch”.
Travelling allowances.
13. Regulation 578 is amended by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (1.) the word “Quartermaster” and inserting in its stead the words “Commissioned warrant officer”.
Conditions of payment.
14. Regulation 615 is amended by inserting in sub-regulation (5.), after the word “leave”, the words “of any kind”.
15. Regulation 642 is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—
Camp or field allowance.
“642.—(1.) When in camp or in bivouac, or when travelling with personnel by road, an officer or sergeant-major, Class I, may be allowed camp or field allowance in accordance with the following table:—

(2.) A chaplain detailed for duty at a camp of training shall be granted, irrespective of his classification—
(a) a field allowance of Three shillings and sixpence per day, and rations for each day of his authorized attendance at that camp; and
(b) travelling allowance at the rate of One pound per day, whilst proceeding to and from camp, except when accompanying personnel who are rationed.”.
