This instrument amends the Health Insurance (Extended Medicare Safety Net) Determination 2017 to index the Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) benefit caps that are a fixed dollar amount by 3 percent from 1 January 2022. Indexing the EMSN benefit caps will provide a greater benefit for patients.

1  Name

                   This instrument is the Health Insurance (Extended Medicare Safety Net) Amendment (Indexation) Determination 2021.

2  Commencement

             (1)  Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

1.  Sections 1 to 4 and anything in this instrument not elsewhere covered by this table

The later of:

(a) the day after this instrument is registered; and

(b) the day after this instrument has been approved by each House of Parliament.

However, the provisions do not commence at all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not occur.

 

2.  Schedule 1

The later of:

(a) 1 January 2022; and

(b) the day after this instrument has been approved by each House of Parliament

3  Authority

                   This instrument is made under section 10B of the Health Insurance Act 1973.
