This instrument prescribes the processes for the granting of approvals to Approved Pathology Authorities for their eligible collection centres that once granted approval, become approved collection centres. This regulatory requirement is part of the compulsory accreditation system related to Medicare benefits for pathology services aimed at ensuring access to high quality, safe, clinically relevant and cost effective pathology services.
