Orders/Civil Aviation as made
This instrument amends the Civil Aviation Order 20.18 (Aircraft equipment — basic operational requirements) Instrument 2014 to legislate appropriate equipment standards that will allow visual flight rules (VFR) aircraft voluntarily to use a broader range of air-to-air surveillance technology (in the form of Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast) than was previously available. The aim is to reduce the costs of installing air-to-air surveillance technology in VFR aircraft with a view to enhancing the basic VFR safety principle of “see and avoid”.
