This instrument amends the Coronavirus Economic Response Package (Payments and Benefits) Rules 2020 to refine and clarify elements of the JobKeeper scheme to ensure that it most appropriately supports businesses and employees affected by the significant economic impact caused by the Coronavirus. It ensures the 6 month turnover test period applying to universities is limited to only those universities that are Table A providers within the meaning of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

1  Name

                   This instrument is the Coronavirus Economic Response Package (Payments and Benefits) Amendment Rules (No. 3) 2020.

2  Commencement

             (1)  Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1Amendments

 

Coronavirus Economic Response Package (Payments and Benefits) Rules 2020

1  Paragraph 8(7)(aa)

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:

                    (aa)  if the entity is a Table A provider—the turnover test period must be a period of 6 months starting on 1 January 2020; and

106  Definitions

                   In this Division:

amending instrument means the Coronavirus Economic Response Package (Payments and Benefits) Amendment Rules (No. 3) 2020.

107  Application

                   The amendments made by Schedule 1 to the amending instrument apply in relation to jobkeeper fortnights beginning on or after 30 March 2020.
