This instrument names those organisations approved to receive and make decisions on applications from proprietors seeking accreditation of diagnostic imaging practices under a diagnostic imaging accreditation scheme. The instrument repeals and replaces, with minimal change, the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation – Approved Accreditors) Instrument 2010 which is due to sunset on 1 April 2020.

Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation – Approved Accreditors) Instrument 2020

 

I, GREG HUNT, the Minister for Health, make this instrument under subsection 23DZZIAA(1) of the Health Insurance Act 1973.

1  Name

                This instrument is the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation – Approved Accreditors) Instrument 2020.

2  Commencement

   This instrument commences on 1 April 2020.

3  Authority

                This instrument is made under section 23DZZIAA(1) of the Health Insurance Act 1973.

4  Definitions

Note                A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in subsection 3(1) of the Act, including                      the following:

a)        base for mobile diagnostic imaging equipment;

b)       diagnostic imaging accreditation scheme;

c)        diagnostic imaging premises.

                In this instrument:

                Act means the Health Insurance Act 1973.

                diagnostic imaging practice means diagnostic imaging premises or a base for mobile diagnostic imaging equipment.

5  Schedules

                Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

6  Approval of persons to accredit diagnostic imaging practices

                For the purposes of paragraph 23DZZIAA(1)(b) of the Act the persons approved to accredit diagnostic imaging practices under the diagnostic imaging accreditation scheme established by the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation) Instrument 2020 are:

                (a)  HDAA Australia Pty Ltd (ACN 134 482 625);

                (b)  National Association of Testing Authorities Australia (ACN 004 379 748); and

                (c)  Quality Innovation Performance International Pty Ltd (ACN 094 965 590).
