Imported Food Control Regulations 2019

These regulations replace the Imported Food Control Regulations 1993 prior to sunsetting on 1 October 2019. They provide for the Imported Food Control Inspection Scheme (Scheme) to monitor the compliance of imported food through targeted and random inspection or inspection and analysis, impose obligations on importers of food subject to the Scheme, and provide for the cost recovery charges to maintain the Scheme, incorporate provisions permitted by sections inserted into the Act as a result of the Imported Food Control Amendment Act 2018, and make provisions arising from the public consultation and the sunsetting review conducted by the Department of Agriculture.
