This instrument revokes and replaces the Radiocommunications (Maritime Ship Station – 27MHz and VHF) Class Licence 2001 with modifications to update outdated provisions. This instrument ensures that the ongoing effect of the 2001 Class Licence is preserved so that anyone can operate maritime radiocommunications equipment, provided the device and its operations meet the conditions of the licence, updates the 2001 Class Licence (such as in relation to the terminology used in the instrument), and adds new options for the qualifications that may be obtained by the operators of VHF marine radios.
