1  Name

                   This instrument is the Privacy Amendment (Utility Credit Providers) Regulations 2017.

2  Commencement

             (1)  Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

                   This instrument is made under the Privacy Act 1988.

Privacy Regulation 2013

1  After section 14

Insert:

14AA  Permitted disclosure of credit information by energy and water utilities

                   For the purposes of subparagraph 21D(2)(a)(i) of the Act, the following credit providers are prescribed:

                     (a)  an entity that engages in the retail sale of electricity or gas services in the Australian Capital Territory or the Northern Territory;

                     (b)  an entity that engages in the retail sale of water, sewerage or drainage services in the Australian Capital Territory or the Northern Territory.

Repeal the section.
