Regulations as made
These regulations amend the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005 to introduce strengthened airside security measures at Australia’s designated major international airports (Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Gold Coast (Coolangatta), Melbourne, Perth and Sydney). These strengthened measures will mitigate the security risk posed by aviation insiders working at these airports who could use their specialist knowledge and access to facilitate a terrorist attack against Australian aviation. The measures will also ensure Australia’s continued compliance with its international aviation security obligations.
