This instrument specifies diseases in relation to employment and commences on 1 October 2017 to coincide with the sunsetting of the previous instrument, Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Specified Diseases) Notice 2007 (1), made under s 7(1) of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.

General Comments: This instrument is also taken to be made under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (the DRCA), by virtue of transitional provisions in the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Legislation Amendment (Defence Force) Act 2017. The Minster for Veterans’ Affairs is responsible for administering the DRCA.
