1  Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Interstate Road Transport Charge Regulations 2009.

3  Definitions

                   In these Regulations:

Act means the Interstate Road Transport Charge Act 1985.

4  Registration charges—2017‑2018 financial year

             (1)  For the purposes of subsection 5(3) of the Act, the amount of the charge for the registration of a vehicle for a full year of registration that begins during the 2017‑2018 financial year is worked out using the formula:

where:

regulatory component means:

                     (a)  if the vehicle is a load carrying vehicle of a kind mentioned in the table in subregulation (5)—the amount set out in that table for that kind of load carrying vehicle; or

                     (b)  if the vehicle is a trailer of a kind mentioned in the table in subregulation (6)—the amount set out in that table for that kind of trailer; or

                     (c)  if the vehicle is a bus of a kind mentioned in the table in subregulation (7)—the amount set out in that table for that kind of bus.

road component means:

                     (a)  if the vehicle is a load carrying vehicle of a kind mentioned in the table in subregulation (2)—the amount set out in that table for that kind of load carrying vehicle; or

                     (b)  if the vehicle is a trailer of a kind mentioned in the table in subregulation (3)—the amount set out in that table for that kind of trailer; or

                     (c)  if the vehicle is a bus of a kind mentioned in the table in subregulation (4)—the amount set out in that table for that kind of bus.

Example:    The road component set out in subregulation (2) for a truck (type 1) with 2 axles is $412 and the regulatory component set out in subregulation (5) for that kind of truck is $199. The amount of the charge for the registration of a truck (type 1) with 2 axles is therefore $611.
