1  Name

                   This is the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Amendment (Firearms and Firearm Magazines) Regulation 2015.

2  Commencement

             (1)  Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

3  Authority

                   This instrument is made under the Customs Act 1901.

4  Schedules

                   Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1Amendments

  

Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956

1  Part 2 of Schedule 6 (table item 2, column 2, paragraph (g))

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:

(g) a lever action shot gun:

(i) without a firearm magazine; or

(ii) fitted with a firearm magazine having a capacity of no more than 5 rounds;

2  Part 2 of Schedule 6 (cell at table item 12, column 2)

Repeal the cell, substitute:

 

Firearm, other than:

(a) a firearm to which item 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 or 14A applies; or

(b) a lever action shot gun fitted with a firearm magazine having a capacity of more than 5 rounds.

 

3  Part 2 of Schedule 6 (cell at table item 17, column 2)

Repeal the cell, substitute:

 

Firearm magazine, other than:

(a) a firearm magazine to which item 15, 16 or 16A applies; or

(b) a firearm magazine, having a capacity of more than 5 rounds, for lever action shot guns;

whether or not attached to a firearm.
