This regulation amends the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000 to remove the CITES permit exemption for specimens which are, or are derived from, rhinoceroses and which are imported as personal and household effects (including in personal baggage).

1  Name of regulation

                   This regulation is the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Rhino Specimens) Regulation 2014.

2  Commencement

                   This regulation commences on the day after it is registered.

3  Authority

                   This regulation is made under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

4  Schedule(s)

                   Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments

  

Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000

1  Subparagraph 9A.04(a)(vi)

Omit “and”.

2  At the end of paragraph 9A.04(a)

Add:

                           (vii)  Family Rhinocerotidae (rhinoceroses); and
