Approval of guidelines issued under Section 95 of the Privacy Act 1988

 

I, Timothy Pilgrim, Australian Privacy Commissioner, hereby approve pursuant to subsections 95(1) and (2) of the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) the guidelines issued by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), namely, Guidelines under Section 95 of the Privacy Act 1988.

Under section 95(1) of the Privacy Act, the CEO of the NHMRC may, with my approval, issue guidelines for the protection of privacy by agencies in the conduct of medical research.

This approval has the effect of repealing the approval by the Privacy Commissioner of an earlier version of these guidelines.

This approval will have effect from 12 March 2014.
