Dear Madam,

I refer to our phone call earlier today regarding the tabling of an amended explanatory statement.

On 16 May 2013 we received a letter from the Senate Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances (SSCRO) regarding the Intellectual Property Legislation Amendment (Raising the Bar) Regulation 2013 (No.1) and its Explanatory Statement (FRLI No. F2013L00479). SSCRO requested clarification of regulations 20A.13, 20A.16, and 20A.21.

I enclose two copies of the Minister’s letter in response to SSCRO which explains the regulations in detail and advises that IP Australia will file an amended Explanatory Statement.

I enclose two copies of the amended Explanatory Statement, which we request to be tabled in the House of Representatives at your earliest convenience.

I would appreciate it if you could please confirm in writing when tabling of the amended statement has occurred.

Should you have any enquiries about this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,
