These Regulations repeal and replace the Workplace Relations Regulations 1996 to accommodate the amendments to the Workplace Relations Act 1996 (WR Act) introduced by the Workplace Relations Amendment (Work Choices) Act 2005. The Regulations are largely machinery or transitional in nature and necessary for the effective operation of the WR Act as amended by the Work Choices Act. Some of the Regulations replicate, with appropriate amendments, provisions in the Workplace Relations Regulations 1996.
