ADR 4/05 Standards/Australian Design Rules for Vehicles as made
This standard is being made to re-align ADR 4 with the latest version of the international standard for seatbelts, UNECE R 16/06. This introduces a requirement for advanced seatbelt reminder systems to be fitted to the driver’s seat in passenger cars, passenger vans and Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and updates the requirements for seatbelts, including those for folding seats, and brings in a minor test relaxation.

General Comments: This standard was originally made under section 7 of the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989 and from 1 July 2021 continues in force as if it were a national road vehicle standard determined under section 12 of the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 (see Schedule 3, Part 2, item 2 of the Road Vehicle Standards (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Act 2018).
