These Regulations amend the Health Insurance Regulations 1975 to reduce unnecessary patient exposure to radiation by limiting the number of three and four region spinal x-rays that can be requested by allied health professionals for a particular patient in a calendar year.

I, QUENTIN BRYCE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Health Insurance Act 1973.

1              Name of Regulations

                These Regulations are the Health Insurance Amendment Regulations 2009 (No. 4).

2              Commencement

                These Regulations commence on 1 January 2010.

3              Amendment of Health Insurance Regulations 1975

                Schedule 1 amends the Health Insurance Regulations 1975.

insert
