This instrument declares that persons who, without receiving any remuneration, provide services to Australian Maritime Safety Australia (in relation to search and rescue services or training services) shall be taken to be employed by the Commonwealth for the purposes of the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.

General Comments: This instrument is also taken to be made under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (the DRCA), by virtue of transitional provisions in the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Legislation Amendment (Defence Force) Act 2017. The Minster for Veterans’ Affairs is responsible for administering the DRCA.
