These Regulations amend the Financial Management and Accountability Regulations 1997 in order to transfer the Murray-Darling Basin Commission into the MDBA and also make several minor amendments in order to reflect amendments being made by the Water Amendment Act 2008.

I, QUENTIN BRYCE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997.

1              Name of Regulations

                These Regulations are the Financial Management and Accountability Amendment Regulations 2008 (No. 5).

2              Commencement

                These Regulations commence as follows:

                 (a)     the day after they are registered — regulations 1 to 3;

                (b)     on the commencement of Schedule 2 to the Water Amendment Act 2008 — Schedule 1;

3              Amendment of Financial Management and Accountability Regulations 1997

                Schedule 1 amends the Financial Management and Accountability Regulations 1997.
