These Regulations amend the Veterans' Entitlements (DFISA-like Payment) Regulations 2005 to enable a compensation-payment to be made to recipients (or potential recipients) of the Equine Workers Hardship Wage Supplement Payment (primary payment) who have had that primary payment reduced (including to nil) because the person or the person's partner received adjusted disability pension under the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 which was assessed as income for the purposes of the means test for the primary payment.

1              Name of Regulations

                These Regulations are the Veterans’ Entitlements (DFISA‑like Payment) Amendment Regulations 2008 (No. 1).

2              Commencement

                These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.

3              Amendment of Veterans’ Entitlements (DFISA‑like Payment) Regulations 2005

                Schedule 1 amends the Veterans’ Entitlements (DFISA‑like Payment) Regulations 2005.

Equine Workers Hardship Wage Supplement Payment means a payment, made under the guidelines known as ‘Australian Government Guidelines for Ex‑Gratia Equine Workers Hardship Wage Supplement Payment’, as in force on 7 September 2007, administered by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
