OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (COMMONWEALTH EMPLOYMENT) ACT 1991

 

NOTICE OF APPROVAL

 

Notice No. 2 of 1992

 

 

 

I, Peter Frances Salmon Cook, Minister for Industrial Relations, hereby approve, under Section 70 of the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1991 (in this notice referred to as “the Act”), on and from the date of publication of this Notice in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette, the following matters relating to section 70:

 

1.         For the purposes of subsection 70(1) of the Act, the following codes of practice prepared by the Commission are approved:

 

(a)    Code of Practice on Indoor Air Quality incorporating Australian Standard (AS) 3666 (Air Handling and Water Systems of Buildings – Microbial Control), and AS 1668.2 (Mechanical Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor-Air Quality);

 

(b)   Code of Practice on Interior Lighting incorporating AS 1680 (1990) (Interior Lighting), and AS 2713 (1987) (Lighting and the Visual Environment for Screen Based Tasks);

 

(c)    Code of Practice on Transport of Dangerous Goods incorporating the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail, and the Australian Code for the Transport of Explosives by Road and Rail (Australian Explosives Code);

 

(d)   Code of Practice on Visual Display Units incorporating AS 2713 (Lighting and the Visual Environment for Screen Based Tasks) and AS 3590 (Screen Based Workstations);

 

(e)    Code of Practice on Non Ionising Radiation incorporating AS 2772 (Radiofrequency Radiation), AS 2211 (Code of Practice for Laser Safety), and AS 1188 (Radio Transmitter & Similar Practices);

 

(f)     Code of Practice on Vibration incorporating AS 2670 (Evaluation of Human Exposure to Whole Body Vibration) and AS 2763 (Vibration and Shock-hand-transmitted Vibration Guidelines for Measurement and Assessment of Human Exposure);

 

(g)    Code of Practice on Safety in Laboratories incorporating AS 2243 (Safety in Laboratories).

 

(h)    Code of Practice on Welding incorporating AS 1338 (Filters for Eye Protection) and AS 1558 (Protective Clothing for Welders) and AS 1674 (Parts 1&2) (Electrical Standard and Welding).

 

2.         For the purposes of subsection 70(3) of the Act, the codes of practice approved at paragraph 1 incorporate documents as amended by the body from time to time.

 

3.         For the purposes of subsection 70(4)(a) of the Act, the codes of practice approved in paragraph 1 of this notice are to apply generally.
